Trauma

You are not defined by what you’ve been through
You have been through something that changed you. Maybe it happened recently. Maybe it happened years ago, and you find yourself reliving it now. Perhaps it occurred suddenly. Or perhaps you experienced trauma that unfolded slowly over a long period of time. Regardless, trauma has a way of staying with us. It can manifest in many ways and it can cause us difficulty in our daily lives.

You might be feeling the physical signs of what you experienced. Sometimes trauma can make us feel numb, or you may feel alerted to certain movements and sounds around you. You may notice that you are always bracing for something to go wrong. My goal is to help you feel safe again.
Part of healing is finding who you are now
When you work towards feeling better and being less fearful in the world, and you also relieve some of these fears and tension within your own body, you will begin to heal. Sometimes that thought is frightening. The pain you carry from your trauma likely worked as a protective boundary for you to function. This survival mode can shape your relationships, feelings, and your sense of self. I will help you slowly and gently move from survival mode to a life where you feel more fully present.

“All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where l've been
And how I got to where I am”
